In Hotel Enai we want to invite you to know a natural wonder in Puerto Maldonado, Peru.

Lake Sandoval is an jungle lake situated east of Puerto Maldonado. Sandoval Lake is located 10 km from the city of Puerto Maldonado (25 minutes by boat). Lake Sandoval has dimensions of 3 km long, 1 km wide and a depth of 0.5 cm to 3 meters.
Lake Sandoval offers some excellent wildlife watching opportunities with the endangered giant river otters being one of the star attractions (early morning is best).
With luck you can also see turtles, caiman, monkeys and plenty of exotic birds.
To reach the lake must travel 5 km from the river’s edge inward (1 hour 30 minute walk). The water temperatures was maintained at 26 ° C (78.8 º F) and have a wealth of fish. It is surrounded by extensive palm swamps are wetlands where the palm grows a place called water hole, among other exotic species.
Within the surrounding flora can be seen orchids, platanillos (parrot beak), ungurahuis, kapok, mahogany and Mauritanian palm trees 30 meters high.
In this habitat lives a great variety of birds such as cormorants, toucans, macaws, parrots, herons and horned screamers, plus a colorful species of wild goose called “hoacín” or “Hoatzin” whose head holds a knot of feathers. Hopefully can also be seen tapirs, turtles and otters or “river wolves” and various species of lizards, including the black lizard.
