THE COLPA OF THE MACAWS
TOURS
For bird lovers this will be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your trip to the Amazon. The “Colpa” is a clay formation rich of minerals salts on the banks of the Tambopata river where macaws gather every morning: hundreds of macaws of different species but also parrots and other species of birds.
These colorful macaws flit around the Colpa before starting the ceremony of "colpeo" which consists of ingesting the clay found in the Colpa, the same one that serves as a food supplement. To witness this wonderful show, we will leave the hotel very early and after a land trip of approximately one hour and a half we will reach the Tambopata river where we will sail approximately 40 minutes, until we arrive in front of the Colpa where we will settle down for breakfast and observe this extraordinary spectacle.
Duration: half day tour (it is necessary to leave early in the morning being back to the hotel in the late morning/lunch time approximately)
